Big News!

For those who don't know yet, Patty is pregnant! Just a little update on what's been going on...

First who is Jasper? Patty and I thought we should give the baby a 'working title' instead of just calling it "the baby" all the time. So we decided to refer to the baby as Jasper. It is highly unlikely we will call the baby Jasper when it is born because a) we don't know the sex and b) the name is a little silly.

Anyways Jan 14th Patty went in to have an ultrasound done. Our doctor suggested getting one at this early stage because Patty is a little older and there is a slightly increased risk of something going wrong.
I'm happy to say that everything seems to be going according to plan and everything looks normal. Patty's visited our GP since and he's happy with the tests.

They estimate that Jasper is about 11 weeks old, and about 4 cm long.
The head is developing and there's a little heartbeat going. An arm is starting to develop and it appeared that Jasper was giving us the Thumbs-Up, or flipping us the bird; we expect nothing less from our combined gene pool.

I have been eyeing a mini drumset at Tom Lee Music - never too early.
Patty is sad there don't seem to be any mini accordions.

What Are The Jasper Chronicles?

Who is Jasper, and what am I chronicling?

There is no Jasper, it was the working-title we gave the baby while it was incubating inside my wife. We figured it was better to call the foetus something instead of always referring to it as "The Baby". I started sending out a monthly newsletter to family and friends, and The Jasper Chronicles was born.

After the final issue of the newsletter, people suggested I continue it as a blog. With seven months of newsletters under my belt, The Jasper Chronicles title was here to stay.

Yeah, not an interesting story, but now you know.

The Regulars Players

Me:
Your orator and host. My name is not Jasper.

P:
My delightful wife, best friend and first true love; narrowly beating out Ginger, my pet hampster who held the crown for over 14 years.

The Boy:
Our son, also not named Jasper. He's my second love, bunping Ginger to third place in my heart. Poor Ginger.
